Since 1958, when Beijing produced the Jingjiangshan sedan, the first model developed by itself, BAIC has developed and manufactured the BJ212, China’s first generation of light off-road vehicles, and the BJ130, China’s first generation of light trucks, established Beijing Jeep, China’s first joint venture specializing in automobile manufacturing, established Beijing Hyundai Automobile Co., Ltd., China’s first joint venture after being admitted to the World Trade Organization, and established Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd., a model for promoting joint strategic project and deep cooperation.
In recent years, adhering to the innovation-driven development philosophy of electrification, intelligence, connectivity and sharing, BAIC Group has vigorously developed integrated resources and restructured core competencies, planned to establish itself in advance in the new energy vehicle industry, research and explore the manufacturing of advanced technologies such as intelligent connectivity and big data, focus on the core competencies of its own brands, work intensively on the after-market stage and accelerate the pace of globalization, so as to push forward its strategic transition from a traditional manufacturer to an innovation-oriented service manufacturer.

In terms of products, relying on the Group’s resources, it has established a relatively complete product development and business process transformation license system with a series of 34 models all available for sale (19 models including the New X35, New X55, New D50 and New D70, and 15 models including the BJ40L and BJ80).

In terms of production, it has set up two bases, one in South Africa and the other in Ruili, as well as seven assembly projects in Pakistan, Algeria, Burma, etc., and established a quality management system aiming at customer satisfaction.
In terms of marketing, it has developed 55 marketing channels, 175 sales outlets, established 42 after-sales channels and 175 service outlets in 43 countries across the world, through which it has sold more than 90,000 sets overseas on a cumulative basis covering Asia, Africa, America and some other destinations for cars exported from China.
In terms of base construction, the general welding workshop of BAIC South Africa project was inaugurated in the presence of the heads of state of China and South Africa, and the first X25 car was successfully rolled off the production line. Chinese President Xi Jinping highly praised and emphasized the project at the event’s marketing ceremony, and it is planned to produce 40,000-50,000 sets annually.
BAIC International is vigorously implementing China’s “Belt and Road” initiative, focusing on two parts of the industrial chain, “Overseas Manufacturing” and “Global Marketing”, with the positioning as an overseas business platform and an overseas integrated service provider. Meanwhile, as the main strategic platform for BAIC Group’s international business, it has taken on the task of building BAIC International Group and expanding the Group’s global presence in industrial innovation, and adopts the strategy of “overall planning, planning before action, moving cautiously at every step, and making achievements in key areas” to realize the Group’s strategic goal of internationalizing talents, markets, products, brands and management, and to make BAIC a leader among Chinese automakers in the global business market.
